R. Madhavan

R. Madhavan is an Indian actor, writer, film producer and television host. He began his acting career with ZEE TV's soap opera Banegi Apni Baat in 1996. He has been a supporter of the PETA programme in India and has appeared in events organised for the group's promotion. Madhavan owns a production company named Leukos Films, which produced his 2007 film Evano Oruvan. He was recently seen in Tamil movie Vikram Vedha.

Biography

Madhavan was born on 1 June 1970 in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. After completing his graduation in electronics, he was chosen to represent India as its cultural ambassador from Rajaram College, Kolhapur to Canada.

After completing the degree, he went on to teach communication and public speaking at workshops around India. Just at the age of 22, he was awarded as Maharashtra NCC Best Cadet and because of this honour, he has received training with the Royal Army, the Navy and the Air Force. But he missed it due to the age criteria with six months.

He has won the Indian Championship for Public Speaking and was subsequently selected to represent India at the Young Businessmen Conference in Tokyo, Japan in 1992.

Upcoming movie Chanda Mama Door Ke

Chanda Mama Door Ke is a coming up sci-fi space film which is being directed by Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan and produced by Viki Rajani. It features R. Madhavan, Sushant Singh Rajput and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in lead roles. Music will be composed by Sachin-Jigar. Madhavan will be seen in the role of a pilot for the Air Force. The film will hit the screens on 26 January 2018.

Marriage/Wife

R.Madhavan got married to Sarita Birje in the year 1999. She worked as a costume designer in a few of Madhavan's films. Their son, Vedant was born in August 2005.

Career

Before starting his career in films, Madhavan has done a sandalwood talc advertisement for Santosh Sivan, who later recommended him to Mani Ratnam for Iruvar movie screen test. After the failure of this movie, he acted in hindi serials for awhile. He gained popularity for portraying the role of Shakhar in Sony Entertainment Television's Show "Saaya".

In 1997, Madhavan appeared in his first film role as an Indian police officer in Fred Olen Ray's Inferno alongside Don Wilson. He was about to make his debut into bollywood with the film Lakheli, but the film was cancelled after the production began.

In 1999, director Mani Ratnam called him for the romantic film Alaipayuthey, which was a blockbuster hit. His long-delayed Hindi film Taak Jhaank won positive reviews after premiering at the 19th Kolkata International Film Festival in 2013. His first Hollywood feature film is Night of the Living Dead: Origins 3D.

Family

Madhavan was born to Ranganathan and Saroja into a Tamil family. His father was a management executive in Tata Steel and his mother, was a manager in the Bank of India. His sister Devika, is a software engineer settled in the United Kingdom. He had a Tamil-speaking upbringing in Bihar.

In Saala Khadoos (Irudhi Suttru)

Saala Khadoos is a bilingual sport drama film written and directed by Sudha Kongara Prasad. It is co-produced by Rajkumar Hirani Films and Tricolour Films in association with UTV Motion Pictures.

The film featured R. Madhavan as a boxing coach opposite Ritika Singh. It is simultaneously made in Tamil with the name Irudhi Suttru.
