Shruti Haasan

Shruti Haasan is an Indian singer, actress and music composer who has appeared in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi films. As a child actor, she has appeared in his father's movie 'Hey Ram'. She made her adult acting debut in 2009 Hindi film 'Luck'. She later went on to feature in many Telugu movies like, Anaganaga O Dheerudu, Oh My Friend, Gabbar Singh, Balupu, Race Gurram, Srimanthudu and many more. Shruti has also featured in several hit Hindi films. She was seen in Katamarayudu opposite Pawan Kalyan.

Shruti Haasan was born on 28 January 1986 in Chennai, India. Her father superstar Kamal Hassan is an Iyengar and mother Sarika is a half-Maharastrian and half-Rajput. Being a daughter of renowned actors, she holds a great interest in music and cinema. She has a younger sister Akshara, an Indian film actor, screenwriter, assistant director who works primarily in Bollywood and Tamil film industry. Shruti has also persisted her stint in music with her father's production Unnaipol Oruvan and her own music band and album.

Early life/Education

Shruti studied at Abacus in Chennai and moved to Mumbai to study psychology at St.Andrew's College. She changed her focus to cinema, music and finally travelled to the USA to continue learning music at the Musicians Institute in California, before returning to Chennai. She also had rhinoplasty to alter the appearance of her nose early in her film career.

Career

Shruti has started her career as a singer and later turned to acting. She made her singing debut at the age of 6. While pursuing her studies in school, she made her singing debut in the Hindi language film, Chachi 420, with her father Kamal Haasan, who also directed the film. Her second song came in Hey Ram, where she sang the bilingual versions of the title theme, Rama Rama with her father, in Hindi and in Tamil.

Shruti is very versatile as she also tried her hands in modeling. In September 2007, she featured in Frappe! Magazine as well as Verve. 'Luck' is her bollywood debut film opposite Imran Khan. She later went on to feature in Telugu and Tamil films. She has also done a voice over for a HIV/AIDS teaching animated software tutorial that has been created by TeachAIDS. Shruti Haasan was signed as a brand ambassador for electrical appliances company Lloyd.

Katamarayudu is a Telugu language film directed by Kishore Kumar Pardasani. It featured Shruti Hassan as Avanthika opposite Pawan Kalyan as Katamarayudu. This is second time for the stars to share the screen space. The film was released on 24 March 2017.
